The Difference between the 12 Step Rehab and the Non 12 Step Rehab

There are many types of addict rehab models used by addiction treatment centers. For instance, two of the models are the 12 step rehab and the non 12 step rehab. Both of the models are based on a set of principles that outline a course of actions to guide people to recover from their addiction or behavioral problems. However, the differences between those two are found in these several factors as explained below.

The 12 step rehab programs acknowledge the presence of a higher power. For that reason, their programs consist of preaching and spiritual gatherings. On the other hand, the non 12 step rehab does not include religious matters in their programs. Hence, addicts who are agnostic and atheist can join the programs freely without being burdened with spiritual matters.

Furthermore, there is a difference in the addiction philosophy between the two models. While the 12 step rehab believes that addiction is a disease, the non 12 step rehab believes that it is series bad choices.
